Amazon.com Pootie Tang pushes blaxploitation to the point of surrealism. The title character--who first appeared on The Chris Rock Show--speaks a kind of slang on steroids, an incomprehensible stream of nonsense syllables that nonetheless makes him irresistible to women and a threat to evildoers everywhere. Pootie is part movie star, part superhero, righting wrongs with the slap of his daddy's belt. But when an evil corporation uses a super-ho named Ireenie (Jennifer Coolidge from Best in Show and Legally Blonde) to steal this magic belt, Pootie must find himself again. In the title role, Lance Crouther glides through the movie like Isaac Hayes's skinny younger brother, while Chris Rock lends his trademark bark to multiple roles, including Pootie's father. Crazed editing and a great soundtrack give Pootie Tang a little extra oomph. A bizarre comedy, likely to develop a cult following. Cameos by Missy Elliot and Bob Costas. --Bret Fetzer
Product Description Pootie call based on the hilariously unintelligible character from the chris rock show its the outrageous villain-whupping adventures of a hit-singing magic-belt-wielding urban superhero with a style and a language all his own. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 05/23/2006 Starring: Chris Rock Wanda Sykes Run time: 81 minutes Rating: Pg13

Just another Jewish Superiority movie wrapped in anti-White movie December 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First, the movie pushes the idea that a confused, angry teen could easily blast up the neo-Nazi ranks. Why? Well, because that teen is Jewish...and, according to the movie, Jews have superior speaking skills, superior critical thinking abilities, superior intelligence, superior fighting abilities, superior debating abilities, and endless other Jewish supremist myths.
You see, according to this movie, all neo-Nazis are dumb knuckle-dragging brutes (aka, whites). And when the Jew isn't dominating the brutes (whites) with his superior brain, he's knocking them out with his fists...literally.
But why does this Jewish teen hate Jews? Well, according to the movie, he mostly hates Jews because Jews have superior sexuality, superior intelligence, superior culture, superior business mind, superior spirituality, etc. Really...those are most of his arguments.
What about the other arguments? Well, he contradicts them with Jewish supremacist myths. For example, he picks on a Jewish kid for being weak and cowardly, but later he (a Jew) beats up a 'Goliath' of a man. Another example, he ridiculously claims Jews lack thrusting abilities, then later he's bitter about how great Jews are in bed.
You see, the subtext of the movie is that Jews are better...just better.
Thus, in the end, he succombs to the notion of Jewish supremacy and their inevitable domination of the world...and advises non-Jews to just accept it too and to just love Jews...yep, just love them. But don't love them as you would any ol' human, love them for their superiority...otherwise, their superiority will, according to the movie, make you into a bitter, jealous person.
BTW: This movie was never meant to go wide because the audience was mostly in cities that show limited releases: Jews. This movie is, like most anti-nazi movies, meant more to motivate Jews to support Jewish leaders than enlighten/shame non-Jews. A Jew who both feels his/her belief system/race is superior than others and who is a bit scared of anti-semitism is much more likley to support Jewish leader's 'support Israel by any means necessary'.
Face it, like every other kind of supremacist, Jewish supremacy exists. It exists in Hollywood, in US politics, and it definately exists in Israel.
Instead of looking for ways to reward Gosling for this movie (as they have done for Crowe and Norton for perpetuating neo-nazi stereotype)...perhaps Hollywood should point its cameras honestly at Israel. Jews and non-Jews with real spiritual integrity have been screaming against how Israel came into being and how Israel has treated non-Jews for generations.

This movie never gets old. Great humor. Chris Rock plays multiple roles, each hilarious. What a great movie. Watch it!
Hilarious and thought provoking August 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Hilarious on the surface and thought provoking when looked at thoroughly. I have seen the movie numerous times and fashion the plot to a modern day version of Samson and Delilah. Delilah seducing Samson and cutting his hair in order to steal his strength and make him vunerable, much like Ireenie stealing Pootie's belt so that he loses his mojo. Funny plot, great clothes and Wanda Sykes steals every scene in which she performs. Love it.
not sure about it July 31, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
it's alright, but i need to really sit and watch it closer, i don't fully understand the point of this movie.
Just say no nay to formula July 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Unforgettable! I was stunned with my mouth open through the whole thing. Pootie walks on air from beginning to end. Luckily there's no acting here (except for Bob Costas who's perfectly terrible at it). There's no Hollywood formula; in fact, no formula. If it were a polished movie it would be idiotic and would give away all its honesty. It's a Chris Rock thing. Kid-like honesty with a brutal punch. A morality play about morality and it succeeds, I think, in giving a silly trashing to the simplistic morality constantly thrown at blacks (and others) while doing it so innocently it doesn't ever have to admit to any manipulation or blaxploitation. At the same time it turns that black music-video culture into looking at itself and maybe frees it from the resistant aspect which seems designed to appear impenetrable to those external moral demands and judgments. As Jung said, "What you resist, persists." This kid's regressing to speaking in tongues. A pidgin language is a simple language which arises between two groups of people who don't speak the same language. Pootie's pidgin is a start that many of us might agree on. Whether your reaction is "sepatown" or "sa da tay", if you don't get a laugh out of it, this movie's for you.
