Amazon.com I, Robot As paranoid cop Del Spooner, Will Smith (Independence Day, Men in Black,) displays both his trademark quips and some impressive pectoral muscles in I, Robot. Only Spooner suspects that the robots that provide the near future with menial labor are going to turn on mankind--he's just not sure how. When a leading roboticist dies suspiciously, Spooner pursues a trail that may prove his suspicions. Don't expect much of a connection to Isaac Asimov's classic science fiction stories; I, Robot, the action movie, isn't prepared for any ruminations on the significance of artificial intelligence. This likable, efficient movie won't break any new ground, but it does have an idea or two to accompany its jolts and thrills, which puts it ahead of most recent action flicks. Also featuring Bridget Moynahan (The Sum of All Fears), Bruce Greenwood (The Sweet Hereafter), and James Cromwell (Babe, LA Confidential). --Bret Fetzer Independence Day In Independence Day,, a scientist played by Jeff Goldblum once actually had a fistfight with a man (Bill Pullman) who is now president of the United States. That same president, late in the film, personally flies a jet fighter to deliver a payload of missiles against an attack by extraterrestrials. Independence Day is the kind of movie so giddy with its own outrageousness that one doesn't even blink at such howlers in the plot. Directed by Roland Emmerich, Independence Day is a pastiche of conventions from flying-saucer movies from the 1940s and 1950s, replete with icky monsters and bizarre coincidences that create convenient shortcuts in the story. (Such as the way the girlfriend of one of the film's heroes--played by Will Smith--just happens to run across the president's injured wife, who are then both rescued by Smith's character who somehow runs across them in alien-ravaged Los Angeles County.) The movie is just sheer fun, aided by a cast that knows how to balance the retro requirements of the genre with a more contemporary feel. --Tom Keogh The Day After Tomorrow Supreme silliness doesn't stop The Day After Tomorrow from being lots of fun for connoisseurs of epic-scale disaster flicks. After the blockbuster profits of Independence Day and Godzilla, you can't blame director Roland Emmerich for using global warming as a politically correct excuse for destroying most of the northern hemisphere. Like most of Emmerich's films, this one emphasizes special effects over such lesser priorities as well-drawn characters and plausible plotting, and his dialogue (cowritten by Jeffrey Nachmanoff) is so laughably trite that it could be entirely eliminated without harming the movie. It's the spectacle that's important here, not the lame, recycled plot about father and son (Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal) who endure an end-of-the-world scenario caused by the effects of global warming. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the awesome visions of tornado-ravaged Los Angeles, blizzards in New Delhi, Japan pummeled by grapefruit-sized hailstones, and Manhattan flooded by swelling oceans and then frozen by the onset of a modern ice age. It's all wildly impressive, and Emmerich obviously doesn't care if the science is flimsy, so why should you? --Jeff Shannon

Great movies, better order separate and save a few $'s November 28, 2008 All these movies are great and are perfect for a package deal. I would rate each of the movies with 4 (I robot and Day after tomorrow) and 5 (Independance Day) stars. The pricing deserves a lot less as at this time you can order I Robot on bluray here at Amazon for $17,49, Independance day for $16,99 and The day After Tomorrow for $ 24,49. This sums up to $58,97. When you look at the individual pages for each movie, Amazon even suggest to combine with the other 2 from the package for the given $58,97 price...See I, Robot [Blu-ray] and Independence Day [Blu-ray] and The Day After Tomorrow [Blu-ray]
If you think a case for packing the 3 bluray cases in a box is worth more than $7,- please order this package, otherwise I suggest to order each movie separate until Amazon corrects the price to a real package deal... It seems a small mistake has been made by Amazon as their own website shows how to get the Real Deal...
Either way you order them, there great movies. For me the favorite is Independance Day which gave me a American Classic feeling in a great action film. Eventhough a native German directed this! Maybe I am a little biased towards a higher rating as I attended the public premier days before the 4th of July in 1996 in Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. That was an event I will remember for the rest of my life.
married with children November 25, 2008 Sony dropped the ball on this one. Poor picture and a sound track that is lame. Until they redo the video in high definition and keep the original sound track, forget it!
Visual Pleasure October 25, 2008 All these movies is a total pleasure to watch on Blu-Ray DVD. With this price, it's a must-have bundle. I highly recommend.
good price September 11, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well in regards to the other review 25 X 3 = 75...... so it is cheaper. How ever if you already own one like me :( it is cheaper to wait for them to go on sale :)
what's wrong here? July 8, 2008 3 out of 19 found this review helpful
Hey, Amazon, what's wrong here? Each of the discs can be ordered for 24,95. Shouldn't the bundle-price be cheaper than this ...???
