A Cult Classic in 1970's Sexploitation and Gore. June 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Italian film director Joe D'Amato's films aren't for eveyone. When it comes to blending horror, gore and hardcore erotica, D'Amato's infamous films couldn't be more sensational, shocking, or sleazy. D'Amato (a.k.a. Aristide Massaccesi) was prolific in the genre and worked under many pseudonyms.
One of the first films that Massaccesi directed using the pseudonym Joe D'Amato was Emanuelle e Francoise le Sorelline/Emanuelle's Revenge (1975), a sexploitation film which led to an entire series of now-classic Emanuelle films (Black Emanuelle; Emanuelle in Bangkok; Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals). Cult Favorite Emanuelle in America (1977) tells the story of a sexy young New York City investigative photojournalist (Laura Gemser), who travels the world to research a story on sexual depravity in different cultures. She overcomes obstacles by getting naked and then engaging her powers of seduction. Her investigation into sexual depravity and sleaze ultimately leads her to Washington D.C., where she meets a senator (Roger Browne) involved in an international snuff film conspiracy, which kidnaps women and then subjects them to unspeakable acts of human brutality (all of which are depicted in the film). After the senator drugs Emanuelle with LSD in the hope that she would forget all that she had seen in our nation's capital, she quits her job to join her on-and-off boyfriend Bill (Riccardo Salvino) on a primitive jungle island (which only proves to be a movie set). Emanuelle in America contains fake snuff film footage (made to look authentic) along with an infamous scene of a naked girl masterbating a horse named Pedro. This is not a film for the entire family. It contains scenes of gore, hard-core sex, lesbian sexuality, zoophilia and bestiality, grindhouse, extreme and graphic violence, torture, sadism, and snuff, along with other assorted disturbing sleaze. Overall, this is not a good movie, but when it comes to the 1970's sexploitation genre, it is a must-see, gorehound classic.

Consider the year this film was made. This is the best soft core I have ever seen from it's era. Buy it(at any price) and add it to your collection.
Joe D'Amato at his greatest! June 2, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Emanuelle In America (1976) Directed by Joe D'Amato (Aristide Massaccesi). The stunning Laura Gemser stars as Emanuelle, the fearless fashion photographer and investigative photojournalist whose thirst for adventure is matched only by her insatiable erotic hunger. Joe D'Amato (Aristide Massaccesi) was born on December 15, 1936, in Rome and died in Rome, Italy because of a heart attack. The last film that D'Amato was working on befoe his death, was a movie called "PLANKTON" (1995). That was supposed to be about a group of young divers that become infected with a 'virus' which results in rape and bloody mayhem the way only Joe can do it.
EMANUELLE IN AMERICA! The jaw-dropping cult classic, that features graphic sex, harrowing violence, a horse named Pedro and much, much more. Directed by the notorious Joe D'Amato (BEYOND THE DARKNESS), EMANUELLE IN AMERICA has been newly mastered from pristine vault materials and is now presented completely uncut for the first time ever!

Emanuelle's best! May 2, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered this item some weeks ago and when I get it, I was very curius about it. I think that this is the best in the Black Emanuelle series, and of course one of D' Amato's best! Laura Gemser is superb. And the movie theme is very oke, nice erotic scenes, and of course the famous Horse en snuff scene :) If you are in to this kind of film, you really must see it. When you are also an Joe D' Amato fan I also recommend the very newly Black Emanuelle's box from severin pictures!
