Customer Reviews: Read 26 more reviews... great story November 21, 2008 A boy who is afraid of his own shadow goes on a great adventure in book-land. He conquers his fears and learns to appreciate books at the same time. I'd say the movie's geared toward boys more so than girls. My sons love it and quote it for days after we watch it. family movie September 21, 2008 This movie is a very good family movie and is nice enough my little sister can watch it. It's a wholesome movie for kids... August 29, 2008 I read this book to my son first and then he wanted to see the movie. I bought him the DVD and we watched it together. We liked the fact that it was done in half animation and half real actors. That was fun and cool for my 4 yr old. He likes Macaulay Culkin also so that was a bonus. Christopher Lloyd is in it briefly here and there but not a lot. He plays the librarian and the voice of the animated Page Master. Lots of stars lend their voices to this movie which adds to its appeal. The movie is not too long either which helps with the younger children. Those are the positive things I have to say about the movie. The negative things I have to say are that it was slow in parts and it was tough keeping my active sons attention for the duration. He would become distracted during some of the movie and rarely watched it to the end. No, he does not have ADHD...lol. Also, if you are going into the movie thinking the animation is high quality, like computer type animation, you will be disappointed. It is just normal animation done with ink and paper (so to speak). It is a good little movie though and it has a fun storyline and a happy ending with a positive message. I would recommend it to folks with young kids or to anyone who just likes these types of movies. the pagemaster: review May 31, 2008 we did know the film and saw the movie already before purchase, but we only had it on a video and we wanted it on dvd. in europe we did not find it, but with amazon we did. we are happy with it! greetings Over look on pagemaster March 29, 2008 Very interesting movie.
